🥘Kaalan (Yogurt & Coconut Curry with Yam/Raw Banana)

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup raw banana or yam, diced
  • 1 cup curd (slightly sour)
  • ½ cup grated coconut
  • 2–3 green chilies
  • ½ tsp cumin seeds
  • ¼ tsp turmeric powder
  • ½ tsp black pepper powder
  • 2 tbsp coconut oil
  • ½ tsp mustard seeds
  • 2 dried red chilies
  • Curry leaves
  • Salt to taste

Method:

  1. Cook banana/yam with turmeric, pepper, salt, and little water until soft.
  2. Grind coconut, cumin, and green chilies into a paste. Add to cooked veggies.
  3. Stir in whisked curd and cook on low until thick (don’t let it curdle).
  4. Temper mustard seeds, red chilies, curry leaves in coconut oil and pour over.
